My Top Ten Favorite Fighting Games

Posted on November 6, 2018

I’ve recently been trying to re-focus my blog to a more personal direction, writing creative non-fiction and tales from my childhood. Yet, the other “segments” I’ve created for my blog, such as Top Ten – still call to me. I feel like it’s time to do another. As I was wondering what subject I should write about for this installment of Top Ten, the idea hit me like a massive Hadouken. I should totally do a Top Ten based around my love for fighting games. I’ve always been a big fan of fighting games, though I was never good at them. Because the games usually focus only on fighting, a big chunk of the art direction goes into making the graphics as slick as…

Lady In Black

Posted on June 21, 2016

The weather is right for writing, and so I finally finished a tiny piece I have been working on off and on. It was inspired by a few different things, mainly an exercise I’ve been doing to try to jumpstart my writing on my blog. A writing exercise, if you will. You can see my previous story  – Lady In Red – HERE. I think I have a few more ladies to write about, so don’t you worry. They’re all going to follow a color and theme I have associated with them. Let me know what you think. ========================================================================== When she looks at me with those eyes of hers, I feel myself burning up. My timbers start smoking, things grow unstable within my frame.…

Eight Simple Questions – An Interview With Comic Creator Eric Peyron

Posted on May 29, 2016

While I was attending Stonecoast, I needed to come up with a third-semester project. I knew I wanted to involve comic books somehow, but wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to do. What I was sure of was that I wanted to take advantage of any connections I had made with people I met at comic book conventions and people I was going to school with. So I came up with eight simple questions and had multiple comic book writers and sometimes artists answer them and collected the interviews into one small book. So, in the same vein as my blog feature “Friend Files” – I present to you the interview I had with comic book writer and creator Eric Peyron, who hails from…

Nope – Not Dead (Update)

Posted on March 26, 2016

I haven’t posted for a little while now, but I can assure you – the rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated. I kid, I kid…I hope there are no rumors of my death. But, yeah, I’ve been slacking on the blogging front and I hope to rectify that soon. (Please don’t kill me.) HOWEVER – this is not to say that I have not been busy. I recently started writing for itcher Mag, and you can find my first article HERE. On top of that, I’ve been busy doing cosplay stuff and getting ready to meet one of my Star Wars idols – Peter Mayhew. Yeah, that’s right. I’m going to meet Chewie. Me and my friend Tyler (you can read my…

Rage: Bane of Demons

Posted on January 16, 2016

Recently, through some friends of mine (comic book letterer/artist Rick Parker and his wife, Lisa) I was told about a job opportunity with a French comic book called Rage: Bane of Demons. The creator of the book, Eric Peyron, is French and needed an American who loved comics to proofread and edit the script for an upcoming issue he wanted to market for English speaking audiences here in America. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. Comic books have always been a part of my life and the chance to work with even an indie book or a self-published book was still really appealing to me. So I sent Mr. Peyron an e-mail, explaining that I would love the chance to work on the book…

Pneumothorax

Posted on January 16, 2016

I remember riding in the car with my grandmother. She worked at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, where I attended my undergrad studies. I lived with her at the time (she adopted me from the foster home I was in, which is another story) in Casco. It was a Saturday or a Sunday, and we were on our usual weekend ritual of going to the grocery store in nearby downtown Windham, here in Maine. The year, I believe, was 2000 (but it could have been 2001) and the Playstation 2 had just been released. I know this, because we stopped in at KB Toys (which has since been absorbed by Toys R Us) and I experienced a demo of Dynasty Warriors for the…

Cosplay Confessions: Linsey Albrecht Cosplay

Posted on December 13, 2015

Cosplay Confessions is yet another monthly feature I’ve added to my blog. Every month (and maybe twice a month), I plan on featuring a different cosplayer and my interview with them, along with photos featuring their cosplays. This will not only be beneficial to the cosplayers themselves – because any publicity is good publicity when it comes to updating your fans on which conventions you’ll be at, and what you’re working on – but it will also be beneficial to those who are interested in cosplay as a hobby in general. I have asked some cosplayers I know to fill out my questions and it’s my great pleasure to introduce a good friend of mine who is a local Maine cosplayer, Linsey Albrecht. I…
