Heels In The Rain

The water’s droppin’ from the hazy-grey skies and I’m sittin’ here in an empty place, droppin’ from a buzz. My head is full of swimmin’ thoughts, my skin is pricklin’ at the cold wind. My ears are pickin’ up the tap tappin’ of the rain that sounds like static on the streets, drummin’ on the glass.
You’re walkin’ through my mind with red heels and a red dress. Nothin’s slowin’ you down. Your perfume knocks at my nostrils, and I let it in. It’s only the memory but it’s still real. Real enough.
My eyes slide closed like shutters in an old house. They block out the light, but not the vision that is you.
